ELIZABETHTOWN
Mr. Adell Badger "Bill" Smith, 84 of 11172 Hwy. 242 N. of the Ammon Community, died on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Windsor United Methodist Church with Dr. Tim Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in 1926 in Sampson County to the late Raymond Badger and Floy D. Holland Smith. He was a very active member of the Ammon Community and at Windsor United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII, he worked for Burlington Industries and then Tompkins Associates.
He is survived by: his wife, Frankie Hilburn Smith of the home; one daughter, Floy Parris of Vale, NC; three sons, Steve Smith and wife, Elizabeth and Andy Smith and wife, Susan both of Fayetteville, and Jerry Smith and wife, Fran of Wake Forest; two sisters, Pauline Gray of Burlington and Elva Dix of Leland; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 12863 NC Hwy. 242 N., Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
