Mrs. Ada H. Knowles

KINSTON Mrs. Ada H. Knowles, 85, formerly of 105 Spencer St. in Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 1 in Kinston. She was previously employed for Burlington Mills where she worked for thirty-seven years. She was a native of Sampson County and was the daughter of the late Joel Horne and Katie Bullock Horne. She was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Eugene Horne; son, John S. Knowles; and great grandchild, Rodrick Hicks, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, at Fayetteville Community Church with Rev. Ken Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow at George Horne Cemetery. Mrs. Knowles is survived by a daughter, Mary McLeod and husband Larry of Fayetteville; two sisters, Lila Autry of Fayetteville and Betty Brook of Autryville; four sons, Gene Knowles and wife Linda of Fayetteville, Earl Knowles and wife Mona of Kinston, Jimmy Knowles and wife Faye of Falcon and Jackie Knowles and wife Melissa of Raeford; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends, from 7 to 9 P.M., Monday, March 3, at Butler Funeral Home in Stedman.
