Ret. MSGT Hubert "Herbie" Ray Sheets, 79 passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Harnett Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dunn.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

He was born in Putney, West Virginia to the late Levi Sheets and Allie Martin Sheets. He is also preceded in death by siblings, Gene Sheets, Beadie Mathney and James Sheets. He retired from the United States Army with 28 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ybeatrice Matthews Sheets; daughters, Sharon Sheets Tew & husband, Frank and Ydonna Sheets Hopper & husband, Steve; granddaughters, Ashley McLaurin Walker & husband, Jonathan, Megan Hopper Hall & husband, Justin and Morgan Hopper Harper & husband, Robbie; and great-grandchildren, Justin McElrath, Cooper Hall and Jackson Walker.
